Colin Simpson joins board of Advanced Manufacturing Forum

February 28th 2017

One of North East England’s largest manufacturing forums has appointed Colin Simpson, business development director of Tomlinson Hall, to its board to help drive forward the organisation’s development.

Colin has been appointed to the board of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum (AMF) to help shape its strategy and future growth.

Established by the private sector to offer a single voice on behalf of the manufacturing community, the AMF engages with members and the wider business community to exchange ideas and knowledge to create business growth and success opportunities within the manufacturing industry.

Colin has worked for Tomlinson Hall since 1994 and is responsible for promoting the company nationally and internationally, as well as building relationships with pump manufacturers and end users across a range of industries.

He will utilise his industry experience in his role as an AMF board member to contribute to the Forum’s policies and strategies, plan member events, and decide on the allocation of funding and budgetary spend.

Ian Fawdon, chairman of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum, said: “All of our members are very passionate about the AMF, our objectives and our future and it’s truly exciting to have Colin join our board.

“As both a distributor and manufacturer of pumps, Tomlinson Hall has global manufacturing connections, and a unique perspective which will be greatly beneficial in further educating and inspiring our members.”

Colin said of his appointment to the board: “I am very pleased to be joining the AMF board; the quality of its membership and its strategic aims have impressed me greatly.

“I hope to utilise my years of industry expertise to assist the AMF in its future development and growth strategy, particularly increasing its membership.

“I am very impressed with the experience and insight of my fellow board members and I believe that collectively we will drive the strategies of the AMF and help to fulfil its ambition of continually growing its membership and the benefits of that membership.”

Jack Hanwell, AMF manufacturing sector development manager, said: “We are delighted to welcome Colin to our board: he brings with him a breadth of experience and industry knowledge, which will prove invaluable to our members.

“Tomlinson Hall is a valued member of the AMF and I am sure Colin’s role on the board, and the company’s strong connections throughout the Tees Valley, will contribute greatly to our strategic aims and growth ambitions.”

The AMF offers members business support and advice on areas ranging from funding to staffing, marketing, environmental issues, HR, IT and legal guidance, as well as providing support to members on productivity, innovation and training and skills.

To share best practice throughout the manufacturing industry, the AMF hosts quarterly events for members, these include the HR Forum, the Finance Forum, the Process Improvement Group and the Marketing Club.
