Tomlinson Hall Hosts Visit from Local School

February 11th 2019

This week, we had the pleasure of showing a group of Year 10 students from Northfield School, based in Billingham, around our facilities. The aim of the visit – organised for the third year running - was to demonstrate why and how pumps play such an integral role in a huge range of industries whilst also providing young people with knowledge of both the operational and production side of Tomlinson Hall.

We began the tour by showing the seven pupils where pumps are used in the production of food and drinks, as well as their usage in water provision, sanitary and waste products. We discussed our extensive portfolio pump ranges and partnerships with major global brands and the pupils showed great enthusiasm when we discussed our client base.

Utilising the morning efficiently, we demonstrated our wholly manufactured Liquivac pump in working mode, ending the visit in the sales office, where the pupils met the team and were given the opportunity to ask any questions.

Pat Chambers who organised the school visit as part of her community engagement voluntary work said: “It is fantastic for local employers like Tomlinson Hall to invite students to their businesses and give an insight into the working life reality outside of the school gates.

“Showing the full scope of the diversity in roles in a company such as Tomlinson Hall that is embroiled in 100 years of history really gives the young people a kickstart. Throughout the years they have always left feeling very inspired – in particular by the company’s Business Director Colin Simpson – and this year was no exception.”

All pupils were well mannered and genuinely interested and each represented Northfield school to the very highest standards. We are delighted to have been given this opportunity to hopefully inspire the next generation of future engineers and business people!
