One More Light Project to End Suicide Amongst Men in the North East

January 2nd 2020

Tomlinson Hall is honoured to help support Mike McGrother and all his efforts with creating awareness, knowledge and the prevention of suicide amongst men in the North East with the One More Light project this Christmas.

Mike works extensively with ventures such as The Pals Programme, which creates ‘contexts’ for men to come together to share and support - including workshops, choirs and encourages retirees to help those learning in schools, prisons etc. It is a non-discriminatory service and available to schools, workplaces, prisons and the elderly.

The One More Light project came as a response to a grandmother grieving over the suicide of her grandson, Aaron, that donated £15 to Mike to ‘do something special’ this Christmas. Inspired by the Linkin Park song, One More Light - famously released after the lead singer, Chester Bennington, had taken his own life - Mike organised for the male voice choir to cover the song and with the help and contributions from local businesses and authorities, release the single this Christmas. All monies raised will go towards the prevention of suicide and as nearly all of the tragic deaths are in isolation, the project creates a community and support for those currently feeling a sense of loneliness and despair.

Colin Simpson, Business Development Director at Tomlinson Hall said: “We are proud to support Mike and would like to encourage as many people as possible to get involved in such an incredible cause.”
