Tomlinson Hall supports Rockliffe Hall’s charity golf event

November 10th 2017

Tomlinson Hall joined celebrities including former footballer and manager, and current Sky TV pundit Chris Kamara, ex-Celtic and Arsenal player and former Scotland International Charlie Nicholas, and Celtic and Republic of Ireland legend Paddy ‘Packie’ Bonner at Rockliffe Hall recently, to help raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) disease.

A team representing Tomlinson Hall were among 64 players who took to the fairways at the five-star Golf and Spa Hotel at an event which raised money for deterMND.

deterMND was established on behalf of Anto Finnegan, former Antrim Gaelic football captain, after he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in August 2012. The aims of the charity are to raise awareness of MND through organised events and press coverage, generate funds for both the MND Association for research and patient care and the deterMND Trust.

The golf day was run as a Stableford competition on full Handicap, with the best two scores counting, from the four players in each team. Competitions such as beat the pro, longest drive and nearest pin also took place on the day.

Strong rounds were played by all and our team, which included Tony Sedgewick of Stockton Council, who won the prize for closest to the pin, and we finished the day in second place, out of 16 teams.

Rockliffe Hall’s chief executive, Eamonn Elliott, executive chef of The Orangery, Richard Allen, and Rockliffe Hall’s sales and marketing manager, Katie Scott, all recently took part in The Helvellyn Triathlon in aid of deterMND.

Colin Simpson, business development director of Tomlinson Hall, said: “We are delighted to have supported a great cause and to have helped to have raised money for an incredible charity, which is close to the hearts of our friends at Rockliffe Hall.

“We believe it’s important to support charities such as deterMND, which does a great job of raising awareness of MND and raises funds to help make a difference in the lives of those affected by Motor Neurone Disease.”
