Tomlinson Hall plays its part in sports awards

March 4th 2016

Tomlinson Hall demonstrated its commitment to sport and the community last month, by supporting a major awards event.

We were proud to sponsor the Club of the Year and Team of the Year categories in the 2016 Club, Coach & Volunteer Awards, organised by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

The annual awards, this year held on February 12 at ARC in Stockton, recognise the invaluable work and achievements of dedicated volunteers and coaches, not only for their own clubs but also for the wider community.

The Club of the Year category honours a club which is dedicated to putting the needs of its members to the forefront, invests in its members by offering training opportunities and engages with the wider community, while the Team of the Year category recognises a team which has shown commitment and dedication through challenging times.

Thornaby Pavilion Judo Club was awarded the Club of the Year title on the night with Zi Shiying Tang Soo Do Club, based in Billingham, named runner-up. And in the Team of the Year category, Norton & Stockton Ancients U18 Girls Football team scooped the top prize, while Billingham Rugby Club Colts U17/18s team claimed the runner’s-up spot.

Other award categories included the Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and the Contribution to Sport Award.

Colin Simpson, business development director at Tomlinson Hall, said: “We’d like to congratulate the winners, Thornaby Pavilion Judo Club and Norton & Stockton Ancients U18 Girls Football team for their fantastic achievements, and the runners-up and other finalists on the night should also be very proud of their contribution to sport on Teesside.

“All of the clubs, teams and individuals recognised in the awards make a huge difference to their local communities, and we were delighted to be part of the event this year.”

Jade Mulhearn, sports development officer at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, said: “Receiving sponsorship from a company like Tomlinson Hall contributes to the success of the evening as the money goes towards the trophies and certificates which recognise the hard work and commitment the people across the Stockton Borough show towards sport.

“The awards play a significant part in acknowledging these dedicated people who all contribute to making sport the great success it is within the Stockton Borough. The awards would not be possible without the generosity and support companies like Tomlinson Hall show.”
